A court in Valencia is investigating alleged fraud during construction of the theme park which could amount to more than 4 million euros
The judge in charge of the Terra Mítica investigation, where 20 or so companies are suspected of tax fraud during construction of the Benidorm theme park, has decided to halt proceedings against three of the businessmen. He said there was insufficient evidence to prove their involvement, and it now brings the number up to four who will not be investigated any further.
Europa Press said these latest three were believed to be linked to companies owned by another suspect in the investigation, Antonio Muñoz Mateu.
A report from the Social Security General Treasury in April last year confirmed that 13 fake companies had their invoices paid during construction of the park, and unpaid IVA and other tax payments on allegedly false invoices are said to amount to more than 4.4 million €.
